The Illinois Youth Investment Program (IYIP) is a multi-faceted approach to youth employment that invests in the future of Illinois' youth (16-24). This approach to youth employment accounts for the youth's employment barriers as well as the physical, emotional, social, and mental health needs while helping them to secure and sustain long-term and/or career employment thereby ensuring a greater likelihood of success and self-sufficiency.
Providers will help youth secure and sustain employment and/or achieve higher education. All youth are targeted for employment: in-school youth - part-time employment; and out-of-school youth -full-time employment. While focusing on sustained employment, youth will also be provided with educational enhancement opportunities and Career Planning that will lead to increased education, economic self-sufficiency, and long-term success.
